Anti-Piracy & Fair Use Policy

Effective date: February 10, 2026

1. Purpose

Exacto is a subscription-based construction cost estimation platform built for students, professionals, and firms across markets. This policy protects the integrity of our service, our users, and the payment systems that power fair access for everyone.

2. Authorised Use

Each Exacto account is for the registered individual or firm only. Users must subscribe to a valid plan (Student, Professional, or Firm) and comply with the terms of that plan. Student accounts are for verified students and lecturers at recognised institutions. Professional and Firm accounts require an active, paid subscription after any applicable trial period.

3. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

Account sharing — Sharing login credentials or session tokens with another person.
Credential resale — Selling, distributing, or offering access to an Exacto account for payment or other benefit.
Trial abuse — Creating multiple accounts, using disposable emails, or reusing payment cards to claim more than one free trial.
Payment fraud — Using stolen, unauthorized, or fraudulent payment methods (cards, mobile money, bank accounts) to subscribe or verify.
Chargeback abuse — Filing a dispute or chargeback with your bank for a legitimate charge you authorised.
Scraping & automation — Using bots, scrapers, or automated tools to extract Exacto data, pricing tables, or estimation outputs at scale.
Circumventing access controls — Bypassing subscription gating, role checks, rate limits, or billing enforcement through technical manipulation.
Student verification fraud — Submitting false student or institution credentials to obtain free academic access.

4. Payment Security

All payments are processed through Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. Exacto does not store your card number or CVV. We retain only tokenised references (card signature, BIN, last four digits, card type, and bank) for fraud prevention and trial fingerprinting. We are unable to see, retrieve, or share your full card details.

5. Fraud Detection & Prevention

Exacto employs automated systems to detect and prevent abuse, including:

Card fingerprinting — We record a unique card signature so the same payment method cannot be used for multiple free trials across different accounts.
Billing flag monitoring — Accounts flagged for disputes or fraud are automatically restricted from further purchases until resolved.
Webhook verification — Every payment event is cryptographically verified against Paystack’s signature before processing.
Idempotency checks — Duplicate or replayed events are rejected to prevent double-crediting.
Rate limiting — API endpoints are rate-limited to prevent automated abuse.

6. Disputes & Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us at support@exactocost.com before filing a dispute with your bank. We can investigate and resolve billing issues faster through our support channel. Chargebacks filed for legitimate charges may result in account suspension and a dispute flag on your billing record.

7. Enforcement

If we detect a violation of this policy, Exacto may take one or more of the following actions without prior notice:

Immediate suspension or termination of the offending account.
Revocation of subscription entitlements and plan roles.
Blocking the associated payment method from future use.
Flagging the account in our billing and dispute system.
Reporting fraudulent payment activity to Paystack and/or relevant authorities.

8. Firm & Workspace Responsibility

If you subscribe under a Firm plan and manage a workspace with team members, you are responsible for ensuring all users under your workspace comply with this policy. Violations by workspace members may result in enforcement actions against the entire workspace.

9. Reporting Abuse

If you suspect someone is misusing Exacto, sharing credentials, or engaging in fraudulent activity, please report it to support@exactocost.com. All reports are reviewed and treated confidentially.

10. Legal Notice

Exacto reserves the right to pursue legal action for serious or repeated violations, including but not limited to payment fraud, systematic data scraping, or credential resale. This policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, except where mandatory laws in your jurisdiction require otherwise.

11. Our Commitment

We believe in fair pricing and honest access. Students get free academic access. Professionals get a genuine 30-day trial. Firms get team tools at a transparent monthly rate. This policy exists to protect those commitments — for every user.
